Devils Tower & Northwest Tour

Devils Tower, made famous in history and the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," is a part of the northern Black Hills. A spectacular butte, of molten magma, formed over 60 million years ago underground. Then exposed by erosion of the sedimentary rock over one million years ago. It is the subject of many Indian legends and a few of our own Hollywood story tellers, We will start early for the trip is extends a long way into Wyoming.

We will first stop at the historical DC Booth Fish Hatchery, a fish hatchery like none you've seen before. With beautiful landscaping and historical sights, it a place so peaceful you won't want to leave.

Then it on to the Center of the Nation a museum and information center surrounding the 20 foot seal marking the geographical center of the United States.

Then, after a stop for lunch, it's on to the "Star" of the day, "Devils Tower," where you can view, take a hike around the base or even climb the 867 feet to the top (if you are into rock climbing and have your own equipment) if you wish.

After getting our fill of the Tower we will start back to Rapid, but before we end our day, we have one more stop at a real life buffalo jump. This is a natural drop off, over 60 feet deep, where they have found bones over 1000 years old. Then it's back to the hotel and a evening of relaxation.
